The Wolf Sings

In the tale of The Wolf Sings, Pekka the Wolf is hungry. When he pounces on an old farm Dog, the Dog bargains to trade his master’s vodka for his own life. Luckily for the Dog, Pekka prefers vodka to food.
Late that night, Pekka joins the Dog in the farmhouse kitchen to collect his vodka. As Pekka drinks, he becomes increasingly happy and carefree, and even capers around the room. Although the Dog warns him three times to refrain from “singing” (howling, in human), Pekka’s happiness is too great and he breaks into wolf-song.
His howls bring the entire family to the kitchen, and Pekka’s joy quickly evaporates as they chase the drunk Wolf out with clubs and pokers.
