Adapted from Jay Van Everen’s 1922 woodblock illustrations, the design draws from the tale of The Partners where Mikko the trickster fox once again manages to evade work while reaping the benefits.

The brick and ivory colorway pairs naturally with hunter pieces from the Mikko Collection.

Each pillow features a patterned front with a coordinating solid reverse for effortless mixing and layering throughout the Mikko Collection.

SIZE & SPECS

Each Tondo measures 2.85" in diameter — small in scale, large in presence. Printed on both sides in vibrant, durable color on 100% ceramic.

Ornament only. Props and styling accessories shown in lifestyle images are not included.

Care: Wipe gently with a soft, damp cloth. When not on display, store in a cushioned, dry environment so it can be enjoyed season after season.

THE FAIRY TALE

In The Partners, Mikko the Fox manages to offload his share of labor onto his unfortunate partner, the Wolf, proving himself an expert in the long con.

When it is time to begin clearing land for crops, Mikko the Fox comes up with excuse after excuse (three christenings in a row which human neighbors supposedly invite him to attend) to dodge the intense manual labor.

Of course, the christening stories were fabricated; Mikko used the time to steal the Wolf’s lunch and a nap or two. Mikko even manages to convince the Wolf that he had eaten his own lunch and just forgotten.

There’s really no moral comeuppance in The Partners but we think we can see the Fox juggling stories, spinning plates, and orchestrating details in Jay Van Everen’s bold graphic design, adapted here in honor of those who have watched someone get away with something completely obvious and found themselves, despite everything, a little impressed.
